What happens when you hand an English degree to a science nerd? You get a teacher, of course!

Like most in public education, Maria loved the opportunity to support future generations, but struggled to pay her bills. Picking up extra work as a freelance writer covered the gap and provided additional experience to bring into her classroom.

But her science brain never stopped asking curious questions and demanding exploration of the unknown. That’s how she ended up partnering with a professor at Washington & Lee University to research better methods to support writers developing their skills. Their work was published in a peer-reviewed professional journal in 2018 and received additional accolades in 2020.

Maria entered 2022 burned out and discouraged, so she gave up freelance writing and began publishing her own books, under her own name. Soon, she was supporting other indie authors while building her own author brand. She left teaching in the spring of 2022 when she officially opened All Write Well with a mission to help writers build their author careers on a strong foundation that leads to long-term, sustainable, success and joy.

Now, she’s published more than 10 of her own books and helped dozens of other authors achieve their dreams. She is excited to offer fiction novel writing support through All Write Well’s Dreamer to Writer Course, indie author support through the Writer to Author Mentorship, and is eager to share her newest book series, Taylor Industries, with readers this coming fall.

When she’s not writing, teaching, reading, or arguing with her teenager, you’ll find Maria hiking through the Appalachian Mountains she calls home.
